The Importance of Connection

Kaitlyn Luckow – COMMENTARY kluck791@uwsp.edu

To be honest, I have been dreading writing this article. This article means that my time with The Pointer is ending. It has been such an amazing time. I can’t even possibly write down every cool experience that this job has provided me with.

I’ve traveled to Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco. I’ve talked to Robert Redford, Tyler Oakley and Dan Savage. I’ve become part of the White House Press Pool and have interacted with countless politicians.

These experiences were great, but nothing will beat the experience of feeling like a part of the UWSP community.

Through my job, I’ve interacted with (what seems like) everyone on campus. And let me tell you, I have met some inspirational people here.

I can recall many interviews that have completely affected and influenced me. There are so many people that I have met and worked with that are passionate about what they do and with life itself. What could be better than that?

I have had the pleasure of working with lot of people on staff here. Everyone I have met here has had a contagious passion for journalism. My life wouldn’t be the same without them. The people I have worked with taught me how to be fearless, have fun, have great Lady Gaga dance parties, and how to immerse myself with a group of crazily unique individuals.

If there is one thing that I will take away from my experience at The Pointer, it’s the importance of meeting people. Meeting new people is the best experience you could possibly give yourself. People are incredible and do amazing things on a daily basis. Let this inspire you. Stay connected and be an active part in the world around you. I did, and it has been the most rewarding experience of my life.

Thank you.
