Pointing You to Your Best Cup of Coffee

With school back in session, many students are relying on coffee to get through the day and give them aboost of energy. Here are a few of the best places in Stevens Point to get that necessary caffeine kick-star to keep you going all year.

1. Starbucks.

Location: 101 Division Street 

Karlyn Wormuth, a junior at the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point majoring in physical education, finds Starbucks to be convenient.

“It’s just one of those places that most people know about,” Wormuth said.

Wormuth usually orders a Caramel Macchiato and thinks that the prices of the drinks are very reasonable.

Teagan Knudson, a junior Pre Med major,also loves Starbucks and has been a regular customer for many years.

“I usually go every day or every other and get a Triple Venti Cinnamon Dolche Latte or a Triple Venti Pumpkin Spice Latte if it’s in season,” Knudson said.

2. Zest Bakery and Coffeehouse.

Location: 624 Isadore Street

This coffee shop is conveniently located right next to campus. Kirsten Kreger, a senior double majoring in political science and history, is a regular customer.

“They are really good and the espresso is amazing. It’s a great atmosphere to relax and grab a cup,” Kreger said.

Besides having great coffee, Zest also serves delicious pastries and other bakery goods.

3. Emy J’s.

Location: 1009 First Street 

Originating in 2003, Emy J’s roasts all fair trade and organic coffee on site and can even have it sent right to your home.

Brittany Waite, a former employee of almost five years, says that her favorite drink to order at Emy J’s is a mocha.

“The prices are very reasonable and they serve smoothies, tea, shakes, malts, and sundaes, as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner,” Waite said.

4. The Basement Brewhaus.

Location: basement of the Dreyfus University Center

Many students grab coffee from the Brewhaus between classes because of its on-campus location. Lauren Bloomer, a UWSP student, is a dedicated customer who usually sticks to the Brewhaus when it comes to coffee.

5. Tech Lounge.

Location: 1036 Main Street

The Tech Lounge not only offers coffee, but also next-gen and retro games in their gaming center.

Rebecca Finger, a second year senior majoring in art, says the prices are very reasonable and always goes for the black coffee.

“The atmosphere is very laid back and casual with lots of people relaxing and playing video games,” Finger said.?
