Greg Summers, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, accepted the presidential position for Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, Massachusetts on Thursday, March 5.
Pending approval of the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education on Tuesday, March 10, Summers will become the 12th president for MCLA starting July 2015.
In an email sent out Friday, March 6 to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Chancellor Bernie Patterson said, “I am very proud of his professional accomplishments and am reminded that we always want to provide an environment where our colleagues are supported and encouraged to grow professionally. We are a better university because Greg chose to spend a significant portion of his career with us.”
Summers served as a history professor originally, before moving to department chair, Associate Vice Chancellor for Teaching, Learning, and Academic Programs, and eventually Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Summers will be available for comment Monday, March 9.
