Kaelyb Lokrantz is a senior political science and history major.

Do you feel well informed about this year’s political election?

“No, I actually don’t. I’m very involved with politics, but I do not feel informed because neither one of the candidates are actually talking about issues, they’re only talking about attacking each other.”

Why do you feel like voting is so important, especially as college students?

“College students often overlook voting and they feel like it’s not something that effects them. Like something that is becoming a big issue right now is student loan debt. This is something they could completely change the political process of if they voted and they could be helping themselves out a lot. The importance of voting in general though a lot of people around the world don’t get to choose and don’t get to make that choice, so it’s very sad to me that there are so many people who are lazy and don’t care enough when there are a lot of people around the world who wish they had the choice to care and vote.”

Who’s your favorite president and why?

“F.D.R. because he basically pulled the country out of rubble and made it into something that we’re still feeling the lasting effects of today. Things like social security and social programs, the amount of parks that he built, the CCC, and all this stuff that we’re still reaping the benefits of what The New Deal did.”

Rachel Klima is a fifth year super senior graphic design major and psychology minor.

Do you feel well informed about this year’s political election?

“No, because I’ve honestly been avoiding it because I’m not happy with either candidate. I’ve kind of just ignored it all together.”

Why do you feel like voting is so important, especially as college students?

“Because a lot of the decisions these candidates are making are going to effect us directly and our generation so you should have some sort of input on what exactly is going to be happening to you in the future. Especially as a student and paying tuition and bills and what not.”

Who’s your favorite president and why?

“I’d probably say Abe Lincoln. He had a cool top hat and he was a good man.”
