Netflix Stocks are Surging!

Many students use Netflix as a way that helps them relax during stressful college times.

On Oct. 17, Netflix released its Quarter Three earnings, which according to forbes.com sent “stocks soaring 20 percent on Tuesday, with an uptick on Wednesday early morning trading.”

Netflix is one of the first instant streaming platforms to create such a surge and, recently, Netflix stocks are being sold for about $120.

Forbes.com informs readers that Netflix added 370,000 new members, which is 70,000 more than expected. Also, 3.2 million new members were added internationally, which is 1.2 million above forecast.

Laura Lundorff, sophomore international studies major, said Netflix has a wide-variety of features and is a better quality than many illegal websites on the internet.

“I feel like it’s pretty affordable, and I hate commercials and there are not any on Netflix,” Lundorff said.

Netflix is known for its own shows and docu-series that it brings out. The unique thing about Netflix produced shows is that all the episodes of the shows are available at once.

The excitement of being able to view the whole season keeps subscribers around.

Netflix also produces international TV series, such as Terrace house, which takes on the concept of Big Brother, where three Japanese males and three females stay in the same house.

Netflix has opened doors to their members to access shows and movies from other cinemas, such as Bollywood movies and telenovelas. In doing so, individuals are being more exposed to various cultures and learning about other countries helps to broaden the mind of a college student.

The next big Netflix-produced show is Gilmore Girls, airing on Nov. 25. This is supposed to bring a lot more new members who are excited to see the stars of their beloved show back together.

Netflix cost just under eight dollars a month, which can be shared among friends. It is one of the most affordable instant online streaming platform for college students to enjoy.

“I like using Netflix because it is user-friendly and it helps me relax at the end of the day,” said Munim Shah, sophomore computer information systems major.
