Pointer Profile- Logan Fredericks

Sport: Hockey

Position: Leftwing

Major: Accounting

Year: Senior

Hometown: Millstone Township, NJ

When did you start playing hockey? I started when I was three years old. I started on roller skates and then I was probably about four years old when I ended up on ice skates. I think it was more because my brother was playing roller hockey at the time and it was just something for my dad to do with us. He brought us to the roller rink, put some skates on us and just let us lose all of our energy so that we would sleep through the night. I think that is how it started.

What other sports have you played? I actually played soccer my whole life up until the end of high school and during high school, I played soccer, I wrestled for a year, I played lacrosse and then every now and then I played golf casually. I think I just had more of a passion for hockey, soccer just wasn’t it for me. I guess I like hitting people and it wasn’t as intense for me but I definitely do like playing every now and again.

What would you consider a successful season for you? I think a successful season would be making it to the national championships and winning it all I think that is a successful season. I know that’s a lot of pressure but I think we do have what it takes and I think that’s our goal, that’s our mindset. We don’t have an automatic bid so its kind of like every single game is like a playoff game for us.

Where do you see yourself in five years? To be honest, I don’t really know. I thought that life was all planned out and it kind of took a turn. So I think in five years I kind of see myself working, wherever life takes me.

What is your favorite part about playing hockey? I think it’s just because it’s basically like a family, a brotherhood in a way. Like everybody knows everything about everyone and I think that’s just the thing all the laughs, all of the memories that you make on all of the bus trips. Also going to battle with the boys, that’s what we call it, just that mentality that we are all in it for one thing and we will push each other till the end, till we get what we want to accomplish.

What is one of your favorite memories from playing at UW-Stevens Point? One of my favorite memories was flying out to Lake Placid. It was interesting, we were stuck on a plan with St. Norbert and it was all of the laughs that we had, the scenery we saw as we flew over Lake Placid, the attitude that we had hopping on the bus to Lake Placid. We were all in high spirits and then just getting into Lake Placid, it was just one of those attitudes where we were all happy.

If you could give one piece of advice to incoming athletes what would it be? Enjoy everything, I mean it kind of is like a blink of an eye. I know that is kind of everybody’s advice but it really is true. Four years went like that, I remember meeting Kelly, who was my roommate all four years, for the first time. I moved in shook hands, parents met and we were on our own and it feels like it was yesterday.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? I would like to go to Europe to be honest. I like soccer so I would like to go to see a couple of English leagues, Chelsea is my favorite so it would be fun to go see them.

What is your favorite meal? To be honest it’s not spaghetti anymore, you kind of get used to that. I think it would have to be pizza, to be honest.

What was your favorite class? Probably real estate with professor Shallow. I think that was really kind of interesting to me because it’s another route that I kind of want to go towards.
